Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements
Officially Endorsed Black Berkey Alternative

High-performance gravity elements certified to NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372, designed to fit Berkey systems and most other gravity-fed water filters. Keeps beneficial minerals and does not change TDS readings.

$110.00 (per set / pair of elements)

Highlights

  • Certifications: NSF/ANSI 42 (aesthetic effects) and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 (lead content).
  • Capacity: Up to 2,750 gallons per element (approx. 5,500 gallons per pair) under typical conditions.
  • Flow & taste: Reduces chlorine taste and odor and particulate Class I while maintaining natural minerals.
  • PFAS & metals: Targets PFOA/PFOS and a broad list of heavy metals in manufacturer testing. See tables below.
  • Compatibility: Fits Berkey (Go, Travel, Light, Big, Royal, Imperial, Crown) and most gravity systems using standard element mounts.

Contaminant Targets

The elements are certified to NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372. Additional reductions below reflect manufacturer testing under specified conditions. Actual results vary with water chemistry, flow rate, and maintenance.

PFAS (including “forever chemicals”)

PFAS groupExample compounds
PFOA / PFOSPFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid)
Long-chain PFASPFNA, PFDA (perfluorodecanoic acid), PFUnDA
Other PFASPFHxS (perfluorohexanesulfonic acid), PFHpA (perfluoroheptanoic acid), PFHxA

Heavy Metals (selected examples)

  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Arsenic
  • Cadmium
  • Chromium
  • Nickel
  • Aluminum
  • Barium
  • Copper
  • Antimony
  • Zinc
  • Other trace metals

Aesthetic & Particulate (NSF/ANSI 42)

  • Chlorine taste and odor
  • Particulate (Class I)
  • Improved clarity and taste

Other Common Targets (varies by water)

  • Chloramines (with contact time)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  • Some pesticides/herbicides
  • Industrial by-products
  • Micro-sediments / turbidity
  • Organic color/odor compounds

Installation & Priming

  1. Wash hands and ensure upper/lower chambers are clean.
  2. Install each element with the provided washer inside the upper chamber and wing nut below; hand-tighten.
  3. Prime before use: Using the priming washer, gently press each element against a faucet and run cool water until the exterior beads evenly and water runs clear. Repeat for both elements.
  4. Fill upper chamber with potable water and allow gravity filtration into the lower chamber. Discard the first full batch after priming.
  5. Check for leaks around stems; snug by hand if needed. Do not overtighten.

Important: Elements do not remove beneficial minerals like magnesium and calcium and do not change total dissolved solids (TDS). A TDS meter will usually read the same before and after.

Care & Maintenance

  • Periodically brush the exterior of the elements with a clean, non-abrasive pad to maintain flow.
  • Re-prime after long storage, when flow slows, or after heavy sediment exposure.
  • Replace when flow is unacceptably slow after cleaning, or when rated gallon life is reached.
  • Do not allow wet elements to freeze. Store dry in a cool, clean place.

Warranty, Returns & Support

  • Warranty: Manufacturer warranty applies. See packaged terms.
  • Returns: Unused/undamaged items within store policy window. Contact support for an RMA.
  • Support: Questions about fit or performance? Contact Plant Based Pros with your system model.
