The easiest way to effectively sanitize your plate chiller is to recirculate boiling wort through it for the last 15 minutes of your boil. This ensures that the hot reaches every little space inside the chiller and kills any bacteria that might be present and growing in wort left over from a potentially ineffective cleaning after the last brew.
We also recommend that you flush the wort path of the chiller with hot water immediately after use. Together, rinsing the chiller immediately after use and then passing boiling wort through it during the subsequent brew should be all that you need to keep your wort safe batch after batch.
